To download and play Extreme Tux Racer the best way to go is to download a binary of the latest version of the game. In the case that a binary is not available for your operating system, you can build the game from its source code.

Ubuntu / Debian ETR can be found in the repositories of Ubuntu Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty and Debian Lenny. Run: apt-get install extremetuxracer
Fedora Experimental builds: 32-bit (i386) rpm / 64-bit (x84_64) rpm
Slackware Available at SlackBuilds.org.
Gentoo You will also find ETR in the Gentoo Portage tree. Run: emerge extreme-tuxracer

Source Code

Feel free to download the source code (tar gz) and compile the game yourself. Our wiki has information about build dependencies and instructions on how to compile the game in various operating environments.
